Kuan-Jen Lu is a plant researcher studying photosynthetic carbon fixation mechanisms, with the goal of improving plant productivity through synthetic biology.

Main research areas include:

(1) Exploring photosynthetic carbon fixation mechanisms and growth-regulating factors in plants, cyanobacteria, and other organisms; designing synthetic pathways and regulatory factors through synthetic biology; and validating their effectiveness in enhancing carbon fixation and growth.

(2) Investigating carbon metabolic pathways in different organisms and designing efficient pathways to convert carbon molecules into specific compounds or biofuel, thereby improving photosynthetic productivity.

(4) Examining the effects of engineered plants on metabolite production, growth, and stress tolerance.
