Exploring plant science is like playing a game of breaking through challenging levels, and our pleasure lies in developing technologies that help everyone succeed.
Exploring plant science is like playing a game of breaking through challenging levels, and our pleasure lies in developing technologies that help everyone succeed.

Dr. Choun-Sea Lin specializes in plant genome editing and tissue culture, focusing his core research on protoplast transient expression systems, DNA-free CRISPR/Cas gene editing, and the innovation of multi-species protoplast regeneration systems. These advanced platforms and research achievements are also provided as core technical services to support researchers within Academia Sinica.

By leading his team to overcome regeneration bottlenecks in dicots and high-value economic crops, Dr. Lin has successfully established precise gene editing platforms for model plants, food, and medicinal crops. Using Ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complexes as tools for transient transfection and target gene editing, the team achieved precise gene knockout without introducing exogenous DNA and fragment insertion . This breakthrough significantly enhances gene editing precision, offering an innovative platform for boosting crop stress tolerance and secondary metabolites while paving a new path for precision agriculture and sustainable development.
