Dr. Cheng-Hsun Ho is a plant physiologist and biochemist dedicated to understanding how plants sense, transport, and respond to the spatial and temporal dynamics of nutrients. His research focuses on nutrient uptake, transport, and signaling in plants, with the goal of uncovering nutrient regulatory networks and developing innovative strategies to improve crop nutrient-use efficiency. This work aims to provide an important scientific foundation for sustainable agriculture.
Our laboratory integrates plant physiology, molecular biology, protein engineering, and advanced live-cell imaging to investigate how plants regulate nutrient transport and metabolic responses in real time at cellular and subcellular resolution. Recently, the team developed NitraMeter3.0, the first FRET-based nitrate biosensor capable of visualizing the spatial and temporal dynamics of nitrate in living plants with cellular and subcellular resolution.
Moving forward, the laboratory aims to establish a high-resolution, quantitative, and visualizable platform for studying plant nutrient dynamics. By revealing the fundamental principles by which plants regulate nutrient use in changing environments, this research will provide new insights and applications for future crop improvement and sustainable agricultural development.
