Abstract:
The Shang-Fa Yang Memorial Lecture is held yearly to honor Professor Shang-Fa Yang, a world-renowned scientist and a native of Taiwan. Professor Yang had made significant contributions in elucidating the biogenesis of plant hormone ethylene and also in the development and application of agricultural biotechnology. The Foundation aims to promote interactions and collaborations among scientists in plant and agricultural biotechnology both domestically and internationally. The Shang-Fa Yang Memorial Foundation sponsors a Lectureship by selecting a world-class scholar with influential impacts in agricultural science to deliver a public speech every year. The Foundation also rewards promising young scientists in memorizing Professor Yang’s spirits in educating and nurturing young scientists.
The awardee of the 15th SFY Lecture Awardee is Dr. Joseph John Kieber, a member of the National Academy of Sciences, USA and Kenan Distinguished Professor, Biology Department, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The awardees of the 12th SFY Outstanding Young Scientists Award are Dr. Wen-Po Chuang, Associate Professor of Department of Agronomy & Master Program of Plant Medicine , National Taiwan University and Dr. Chin-Min Ho, Assistant Research Fellow of Institute of Plant and Microbial Biology, Academia Sinica. The award ceremony and honor lectures will be presenting on October 31th and November 1th. We look forward to your participation.
