Agricultural Biotechnology Research Center Team Led by Wen-Chin Yang Received the National Agricultural Science Award from the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan.
The Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, granted
the National Agricultural Science Award, a topmost national prize for agriculture, to the team of the Agricultural Biotechnology Research Center of the Academia Sinica, including Wen-Chin Yang, Yu-Chuan Liang, and Tien-Fen Kuo. This award was used as a token to recognize and appreciate its team contribution to the research into the emerging functional crops for human and animal health. The achievements of this team involve one nutraceuticals/medicine against diabetes, one medicine against cancer, one phytogenic for poultry coccidiosis, and one phytogenics for livestock diarrhea. All four innovations relate to the prevention and treatment of human diseases and animal infectious diseases. This team has helped the licensees to commercialize three products on the market, abroad and internationally, in an attempt to upgrade agriculture and biotechnology in Taiwan.
